This is yet another amazing story. Alford enlisted in the Royal Air Force because there was a war on and he wanted to do his bit for his nation as he tells it. But he was particularly excited to travel to England in the footsteps of his father who served in the British West Indies Regiment in Essex during World War 1.
Conclusion
It was so enlightening to listen to the rich history, encounters and experiences of been linked to both World War 1&2.
Editor’s Note
Such rich learning from one individual, within one hour, was so much more than I was every taught in school. The National School Curriculum needs to permanently include the history of African and Caribbean people, because I believe there are many who still do not know our sacrifices and contributions, in particular during World 1&2.
