The Forgotten Generations
Lest We Forget Project

The Forgotten Generations, led by founder and CEO Donald Campbell was established to celebrate Black History and the experiences and lives of Black British people whose stories might otherwise be forgotten. Thanks to the generosity of National Lottery players, The Forgotten Generations received a grant in 2025 to commemorate the contribution of seven black veterans (including Donald Campbell) to the Royal Air Force spanning careers from recruitment during the Second World War to retirement in 2011. It accompanies a free public exhibition in the Library of Birmingham (courtesy of Birmingham City Council) mounted by the Lest We Forget project between September and December 2025. As a lasting legacy, The Lest We Forget Project has also produced this extension to The Forgotten Generations website, featuring online materials explaining how the careers of the seven veterans fit into the history of the RAF as a whole since 1918.
