Sandy Joseph

Sandy is proud to be British, being Birmingham born, but fully embraces her Caribbean heritage and culture. Her parents journey are like many others from the Caribbean, apart from her father who was in the Merchant Navy, who experienced being torpedoed three times on three different ships, curtsey of the German U Boats. Sandra’s own journey takes us on a educational path as a teacher and indeed playing the drums.

Sandy’s story is memorable for many different reasons, in particular the journey of her father’s service in the Merchant Navy and life after such extraordinary experiences. Each person who listens to her journey and the historical context of what it brings to the fore, should definitely benefit from it.

Meeting individuals such as Sandy and hearing her story takes you to a place that is far beyond your normal track or even highway of life. It is amazing that these stories are not more readily accessible and available.  The Forgotten Generations aim to provide a platform that will avail the world of remarkable historical information and knowledge such as these.
