Conclusion

Herbert Morris was a 16 year old who travelled from his country Jamaica to serve with the British West Indies Regiment (BWIR) during World War One. He met his fate by being shot at Dawn, age 17, for wondering away from his post while serving in France. He was suffering from Shells Shock, now know as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

There is an annual remembrance ceremony, by The Forgotten Generations, in recognition of the life Herbert Morris, other African and Caribbean soldiers who were shot at dawn, and indeed all other soldiers who are a part of the Shot At Dawn Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire.
