At the outset of this project, it was called Talk With Don (TWD). The title was changed shortly after to The Forgotten Generations (TFG) to record stories of African and Caribbean people who have largely been forgotten in British history.
Natalecia was the first person I interviewed, and it was very interesting listening to her journey to date. She was born and raised in Portland Jamaica with three siblings, two brothers and a half sister. After basic school she went to Buffet Primary School and the on to comprenshive school.
After joining the police force Natalecia took up an offer of a trip to England, and during that time she enlisted in the Royal Navy. She has since experienced life in the military sailing around the world and gaining knowledge from a wider perspective of her path of life.
Conclusion
This is a young lady who clearly wanted more from her then existence, and in the process of trying she became a member of the Royal Navy. It may seem very random, but the journey of life often has unexpected twists and turns because we do not know what lies ahead.
Editor’s Note
It is evident this young lady wanted and probably even dreamed of another world, another life, but never knew what, where, and when that journey would begin and ultimately take her. We must believe in ourselves and aim to pursue our dreams and aspirations.
