Eyes on the Prize: From Soaring the Skies, to Elevating Communities
Effiom B. Whyte was born in Kingston Jamaica and credits his parents for a strong value-driven upbringing, and he continues to live by his father’s words "Stand for something, lets you fall for anything" each and every day. From humble beginnings on Slipe Pen Road, Effiom set his Eyes to the Skies to pursue a career in flight; first with the Jamaican Defence Force Air Wing, flying helicopters, followed by commercial aviation where he flew a variety of fixed-wing aircraft.
Following his retirement from the cockpit, he found ways to foster growth and development in Jamaica’s youth, local communities and around the world. Effiom still lives in Kingston and takes time to visit his family and friends in the United States and Canada.
His infectious laughter and smile, combined with his desire to listen as well as be heard, has helped countless mentees, friends and associates to "Keep your Eyes on the Prize."
Partial proceeds of the royalties from "Eyes on the Prize" will be donated to the Bethel Baptist Brotherhood Outreach Programmes, and the Rotary Foundation through the Rotary Club of Kingston, Jamaica.

Editor’s Note
Sky is the limit is a good vision and ambition to have, especially if you have the backing of your parents to guide your path and steer you onto the right road. Sky was indeed the limit from flying helicopters in the Defence Force to commercial aviation. Giving back in life is always commendable, especially if you were blessed to achieve your ambition.
