Miss Jean has now found her true identity as to who she really is after growing up in the church as, what was commonly known, as a Pastor’s Kid. It was almost like growing up in a straight jacket regarding what she was and was not allowed to do because she was the daughter of a pastor. From a very young age she started to question why she was not allowed to behave and do some of what seemed like normal things that the majority of other children did. However, she believes it gave her a good grounding for life ahead in the big wide world.
Being born in Jamaica, she emigrated with her parents to England as a baby. Her father was later given a ministerial contract to the United States, which was a very steep learning curve experience in the State of California. Jean candidly explained the issues that family faced, transitioning from a British to a Californian way of life, essentially between the age of 18 to 21, and her brothers as black British youngsters during unpredictable race tensions.
Now as a mother and grandmother she loves spending time with her children and grandchildren, and travelling with her work, meeting families, friends, colleagues and people in general. She now looks back on her journey and marvel on blessings of life that has being afforded to her. She believes that life has a lot more to offer and fully intend on grasping the richness of her journey, with hopefully a lot more to come in the future.
Conclusion
Dr Jean created a great bit of history during this interview. Her timeline of recollection was simply tremendous for many, many reasons.
