Today we joined West Midlands Fire Service in saying a sad goodbye to their Chief Fire Officer and our greatly respected colleague, Wayne Brown.
Wayne’s career as a firefighter started in 1992, with his first posting to Silvertown Fire Station in Newham. Throughout his career with the Brigade, Wayne played an important role in helping keep London’s communities safe as his career progressed. Wayne was an outstanding member of staff and his contributions will never be forgotten.
In 2019 Wayne left the London Fire Brigade to take up the role of Deputy Chief Fire Officer, and eventually Chief Fire Officer, of West Midlands Fire Service.
Waynes’ funeral took place in London, in accordance with his family’s wishes. The emotional service was held at Southwark Cathedral, organised by West Midlands Fire Service and the Brigade.
Conclusion
A life which seems to have been cut short, some may even say unfulfilled. However, the path of life given to us as individuals is not laid out before us with a shining light saying this is what’s going to happen. Therefore it can be quite shocking when situations like this befall the best of us.
Editor’s Note
It is evident that the course of our intentions can be considerably different to reality. What is life but a moment in the span of time? Some will live to witness a century, others a mere fraction of time on earth. Yet our achievements often differs considerably during our years on earth, some reflecting greatness, others a somber existence. The good Lord has a plan for us all.
